Q Mobility’s new system deducts parking fees automatically through the Darb wallet, with no QR codes or machines.

Abu Dhabi has launched a new smart parking system that automatically deducts fees through the Darb app wallet. Q Mobility announced the Free Flow Paid Parking System on Monday, June 1.

The system removes the need for SMS, payment machines, QR codes, paper tickets, cash, and other manual transactions. Q Mobility said it marks a shift toward fully automated parking in the capital.

The system uses artificial intelligence and automatic licence plate recognition. A parking session starts automatically when a vehicle enters a designated area. Charges are calculated when the vehicle exits, and the fee is deducted directly from the user’s Darb wallet.

Q Mobility said the service eliminates paper tickets and cash payments. It said the aim is to make parking faster and simpler. The company said the system integrates smart infrastructure with the Darb digital ecosystem and supports the wider adoption of digital solutions and AI.

Q Mobility stressed the importance of keeping enough balance in the Darb e-wallet before using the service. It said this ensures a smooth automatic payment and helps drivers avoid parking fines. The Darb e-wallet is already used by motorists to pay for public parking and road tolls.

Q Mobility Expands Darb App Smart Parking Across Abu Dhabi

Q Mobility is an ADQ company that runs day-to-day Mawaqif parking operations under the supervision of the Department of Municipalities and Transport’s Abu Dhabi Mobility. It also operates the Darb toll system.

The Free Flow Paid Parking System will roll out at multistorey car parks and selected private parking facilities before a wider expansion. Q Mobility said the launch is part of its efforts to expand smart parking through the gradual activation of the service across several city sectors and selected private parking locations.

The launch comes as Abu Dhabi continues to expand its paid parking network. A new paid parking zone covering more than 10,000 spaces was introduced in Mohamed bin Zayed City on May 6. The system is in place in the suburb’s commercial sectors ME9 and ME12, and Q Mobility has introduced paid parking in other commercial sectors of the area.
