The Emirates Red Crescent has allocated Dh36.7 million in humanitarian aid to support Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

The UAE has announced a Dh36.7 million ($9.9 million) humanitarian aid package for Gaza to strengthen relief efforts in the enclave. The Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) confirmed the allocation, which forms part of the country’s wider response to the humanitarian crisis facing the territory. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in Al Dhafra Region and Chairman of the ERC, directed the funding.

The package centers on basic relief for families across Gaza. It includes more than 160,000 food parcels and over 40,000 health kits for distribution within the enclave. The ERC said the aid targets food security, healthcare, shelter, and community support, and it reaffirmed its commitment to continue programs in those areas.

The new allocation builds on a steady flow of UAE assistance into Gaza. On Sunday, four convoys carrying 740 tonnes of food entered the enclave in 60 lorries. The UAE humanitarian team prepared and loaded the convoys at the logistics hub in Al Arish, near Egypt’s border with Gaza, working alongside Egyptian authorities who facilitate the movement of aid.

The UAE has delivered billions of dirhams worth of aid since the start of the conflict. It set up a field hospital inside Gaza and a floating hospital stationed off the coast of Egypt. Thousands of Gazans have also been flown to the Emirates to receive medical treatment, including patients needing complex surgical care.

The ERC said the latest package reflects the country’s ongoing focus on sustained relief rather than one-time deliveries. The organization noted that its programs combine immediate food and medical support with longer-term assistance for displaced and vulnerable communities.

Gaza Relief Under Operation Chivalrous Knight 3

The aid forms part of Operation Chivalrous Knight 3, the UAE’s humanitarian campaign for Gaza. President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan launched the operation following the outbreak of the conflict in October 2023, and the UAE has carried it out through repeated aid convoys, medical evacuations, and field hospital operations.

The UAE has ranked among the largest contributors to Gaza relief. Citing data from the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, the German Press Agency reported that the UAE topped the list of countries providing support to Gaza between October 2023 and November 2024, with a contribution of $828 million.

The ERC said it will maintain its operations in coordination with humanitarian partners on the ground. It described the Dh36.7 million package as part of a continuous effort to ease conditions for civilians and meet urgent needs across the enclave.
